The inaugural conference for Education Forward was held at Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre, Leeds. A sold-out venue heard keynote provocations from Sir Ken Robinson (by video) Mark Stevenson, Valerie Hannon, Jim Knight and Mick Waters, with workshops led by most of the contributors to the Education Forward book, on

Priya Lakhani kept the show on the road

standardised testing, mental health and well-being, leadership, teaching and learning, parental engagement and much more. There was also a compelling Headteachers panel, with frank and insightful contributions from Mark Moorhouse, Rachel Tomlinson and Ava Sturridge-Packer.

The event – brilliantly held together throughout by Priya Lakhani – concluded with a plenary session where

delegates made action pledge – small and large – to make their own schools, communities and organisations aware of the Education Forward message.(See below for some examples of pledges)

Many of the delegates made plans for follow-up meetings and events – watch this website for further details.
